Overview

Head to Zoo Miami on your trip to Miami, so that you can explore this accessible park and see some of the thousands of animals that live in the park. Zoo Miami stretches over 750 acres (304 hectares) and visitors can travel the world in one day! You will visit Africa, Asia, Amazon and Beyond, Florida: Mission Everglades and Australia.

Each of these areas houses animals from that region, some of which are endangered species. Zoo Miami takes part in many conservation initiatives and has many informational displays about protecting animals and preserving their natural habitats.

On your self-guided visit, you may be able to catch some of the wildlife presentations at the zoo, where an animal ambassador and their animal will talk about life at the zoo, what it takes to work at the zoo, how to take care of the animals and more.

There are also regular ‘Meet the Zookeeper’ events, with keepers of the tigers, elephants, orangutans and more. As the zoo is so large, you’ll want to take your time and spend the whole day there. Zoo Miami offers everything you need to keep you going throughout the day, including a trendy modern restaurant, a cafe, a grill restaurant with a playground and several food carts selling ice creams and snacks.

There are also several vending machines throughout the zoo. At the end of the day, you can pick up a souvenir from the gift shop. The park is accessible to people with disabilities and service animals are welcome. There is a monorail and a safari tram, both of which explore the park and exhibits and can accommodate up to 2 wheelchairs each. It’s possible to rent wheelchairs onsite for an extra charge and guests can reserve their wheelchair rental in advance. Sign language tours and accessible informational material can be provided if requested at least 7 days in advance.
